Palatability: Good.

Safety: Poisonous in large amounts, but safe up to 30% of the diet after acclimatisation.

Other characteristics/uses

Agroforestry: Useful for stabilising erosion control bunds, but not as crop-friendly as calliandra. Nitrogen fixing.

Comments

In Uganda, the productivity of leucaena has been drastically reduced by a psyllid. If left unpruned it will grow into a small to medium tree, but it it is often managed as a shrub.
