Names

English: gliricidia, Mexican lilac

Fodder characteristics

Palatability: poor when fresh, but good when dried.

Nutritional value: High in protein (nitrogen-fixing legume).

Safety: Leaves, shoots and pods are safe for ruminants, but poisonous to pigs, donkeys, rabbits etc.

Other characteristics/uses

Agroforestry: Very good for field boundaries and erosion-control lines.

Comments

Propagates well from cuttings.
